Trust is something you earn. You can’t just simply say to someone to trust you — it must be built up over time. The same is true about dogs. And the dogs that make you earn their trust are some of my favorite ones. Chi-Chi might be all bark, but she’s also the smallest dog with a huge heart. By the end of our session, she was giving me kisses and I knew then and there, she trusted me. That’s a huge accomplishment if you ask me. Here are some pictures from my session of Chi-Chi and Lola.

Isn’t Lola such a cutie? Her eyes are so pretty and just pour love.

Chi-Chi guarding the entire neighborhood. She’s a tough cookie for being so little.

Here’s Chi-Chi and Lola’s parents. :) They have been married for about three years and love just gushes out of them as well.

Christie is so freaking beautiful. I love the series of the couple together. They totally rocked it.

This last picture was right before I left the session. As you can tell Chi-Chi was working the camera. Christy told me that this was one of her all-time favorites from the session so I had to include it.

Camerone explained that from childhood, she’s always had a Golden and they always had names that began with the letter B. That Brady and Bentley made a king size bed feel like a twin. They both loved going on walks and their treats – but most of all all their neighborhood friends. We started our session in Latta Plantation and move to the Golden’s neighborhood in Huntersville, NC before the sunset. These two together are quite a pair. Here are some pictures from the session.

When I first saw the above picture – I really thought it was a lion – - just look at that chest of fuzzy fur. LOVE IT.

Nothing beats having a LARGE dog think they are small enough to fit into your lap. Always makes me smile.

There are special people out there with huge hearts. Most of the time you would never know it, but it just seems to pour out of them. Letting a new adopted pet into your home isn’t always easy, but the reward is nothing a lotto winner can ever speak to. Debbie contacted me to photograph her two Chihuahuas, daughter Nicole and Nicole’s dog too. Most people might have in their heads how certain breeds might behave, but all three of these dogs were a photographers dream. It did take them a while to warm up to my camera, but once they did, the big and little personalities just came out. Debbie’s session was taken at Freedom Park in Charlotte, NC.

This is how Debbie hold both Chihuahua’s at the same time – - they don’t mind it and I think they rather enjoy being close to each other.

Last but not least, some sweet Penny paws.

It was a perfect day at the park and I’m so glad I got to spend it with Debbie, Nicole and some really awesome pups.

There’s something about being the first. She’s the newest addition to join this happy-go-lucky couple. Her expert first time mom can spill everything one needs to add to a registry in less than 2.5 seconds. The best part about Harper is that she smiles when she sleeps. I almost wanted her to be able to speak so we can find out what makes her glow. I personally think it might be dad. She totally has him wrapped around her little fingers.

Congrats Kate and Dru on your new little bundle of joy, Harper. Thanks so much for sharing such a fun afternoon meeting your family.

Harper is only seven days old. And lucky for me, I got the chance to meet this little lady over the weekend. Here’s a little peek from her session.

It all started with a giggle and maybe even a few lollipop. This 4th of July weekend was filled with family. Five families joined together; four sisters, two grandparents, four husbands and some super cute kids. There was no crying, only laughter on this cool summer day. Who could ask for a better day?

Thanks to everyone for such a great afternoon of jumping, smiling and just plain fun.

Over July 4th weekend, I headed up to the Peninsula in Lake Norman, NC to shoot five very fun and super friendly families. This sneak peek is of the four sisters and the their parents. Just wait until you see all the cute kids. More to come later this week.

The W Family is amazing. They are all kind, polite and super smart; plus they have three dogs that I said I would kidnap in a heartbeat for being such sweethearts.

Meet Jody and Chris plus the pups – Chloe, Barkley and Doc (left to right):

And here’s Blaine (8) and Tyler (12).

This family are huge dog lover (which makes me love this family even more). All of the W family dogs have been adopted from different rescue groups. They are also the best dogs to photograph. I think they stood or sat still for most of the pictures without any complaints.

And check out the men of this family. One word: Handsome.

Last but not least is the whole family all together with the dogs. We shot most of these pictures near a golf course and when Chris said Jody’s dad is a huge golfer, we jumped at the chance to get a shot on the green.

Thanks W Family for letting me spend some time with you and shooting your upcoming Christmas card. Have a super holiday season!

p.s. Tish Mackay Photography will be at Birkdale Village at Bella Ropa this Saturday from 11am-2pm taking pictures with Santa to benefit Project HALO.

Hope to see you there!

Friday Favorite Things

August 28, 2009

I’m not sure if anyone would agree, but this felt like the longest week ever. I can’t even believe that a week ago today, I was headed to Cummings, GA to see my brother and his family. I got there around dinner time to see my four favorite people (and one cute dog-cousin) sitting on the porch waiting to welcome me into their home for a jam-packed weekend. We spent the next couple of days eating lots of good food, seeing animals at the zoo, having drawing contests, running up the road to get ice cream and also a visit to the local fish hatchery for a little fishing. I was so sad when Sunday came along and it was time to head back to the Carolinas. Good thing, I have another trip planned to head back in October for my nephew’s sixth birthday.

Here’s a few favorite pictures from my GA weekend. Enjoy and have a super weekend!
